Playing sports is more than just fun. It’s good for the mind and the body! Physically, sports help strengthen our bodies and promote good overall health. Here at Sport Court Massachusetts, we love seeing families enjoy our backyard courts, but we equally love the health benefits that it brings to families as they make exercise a part of their daily lives.
You will see improvements in the health of all members of the family whether you use our backyard courts or indoor athletic surfaces for gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, futsal, tennis or any of the other high-quality courts we offer. Here are a few health benefits you will experience when you make athletic play a regular part of your life or your family’s lives.
Healthy Heart – According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Heart disease and stroke are two of the leading causes of death in the United States. But following the guidelines and getting at least 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity can put you at a lower risk for these diseases. You can reduce your risk even further with more physical activity. Regular physical activity can also lower your blood pressure and improve your cholesterol levels.”
Weight Management – Study after study has shown that obesity is on the rise in our country. Diet and exercise can play a critical role in managing weight. Playing sports and getting regular daily exercise can help burn calories and help adults and children alike stay at a healthy weight.
Improve Mood – Having fun while playing can do a lot more than just help your heart and waistline. It can improve your mood too! Studies by the CDC have also shown that maintaining an active lifestyle can increase your mental sharpness along with your mood.
Strengthen Bones and Muscles – Regular physical activity can help strengthen your bones, joints and muscles. Even light to moderate activity can help build up muscle, strengthen bones and help keep your joints limber.
